World Art Day- 2017

Welham Boys’ School celebrated the World Art Day on the 12th and 13th of April 2017 in collaboration with Kokuyo Camlin Ltd. The theme for the event was “Yesterday meets tomorrow”. 21 schools from Dehradun and around participated in the event. WBS welcomed the delegates from all the schools. This was followed by the opening ceremony. Ma'am Bindra declared the world art day open and also launched an Annual Photography and Movie Making Competition called Kamera Obscura. It will be hosted by our school every year at a National level.


The events included Photography, Movie Making, and Canvas Painting. All schools painted a canvas which was 5mt long. We also had workshops for the participating schools which included best out of waste, Madhubani Painting, Papier mache ,Gond Painting, Calligraphy, Wood cut Printing, Cartooning and Pottery . All the workshops were a great learning experience for the students. The Chief Guest for the event was Mr Jatin Das (contemporary artist). In his illustrated talk about Art and Aesthetics in everyday life he spoke about preserving the culture and art of our country ,encouraged the students to be original and to contribute to the Art galleries and Museums.

Mr Sandeep Joshi, a renowned cartoonist also graced the occasion with his presence. At the closing ceremony the work of all the students was displayed and appreciated.
