S.K Kandhari Memorial Hockey Tournament
The 8th S.K Kandhari Memorial Hockey tournament took place from 29th April to 2nd of May,2012 with eight teams participating and playing a total of fifteen matches. Teams were divided in two pools and were competing in league rounds but only the top two teams from each pool qualified for semis. In the first semi, Welham outplayed Yadvindre Public School(Patiala) by beating them 6-1. Meanwhile, Punjab Public School(Nabha) had a easy win over Rashtriya Indian Military College(4-0). In the presence of ma’am Usha Kandhari, wife of late S.K. Kandhari, Welham emerged victorious with Fahad Siddiqui striking within the first fifteen minutes of the match. Unable to penetrate our defence, PPS returned without the coveted title. The Welham Hockey Team created history by winning the tournament for the first time in nine years.
