Report HMUN 2016

A group of 21 boys escorted by Mr S . Kuqsal and Mrs S. Patankar went to attend the HMUN 2016 at Boston . The group left for Washington DC on 25th January, 2016. A snow blizzard had hit this belt a day before and the whole of Washington DC was covered in 3-4 feet of snow. We visited the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. After that we went for a drive through the city and saw the Capitol and the White House from outside because due to heavy snow these places were kept out of bounds. We also visited the Vietnam War Memorial and Lincoln Memorial. The next morning, we went to New York where we went to the Liberty Island and visited the Statue of Liberty. In the evening the boys went to the Times Square, Wall Street and Ground Zero. The tourist guide took us around and gave valuable information about these places. Having enjoyed sightseeing in Washington DC and New York we reached Boston for the HMUN .

It was it was a novel experience meeting the delegates from different countries. The engaging debates really kept our adrenaline high. The huge committees were packed with fun and excitement. The next day’s sessions were late in the afternoon so we took the local metro to visit the Harvard University at Harvard Square. The guide was very resourceful and as we walked through the Harvard University campus, we realized how fortunate we were to visit this place.

31st Jan was our last day in Boston so after the Closing Ceremony we went for a Heritage Walk and saw the city. The guide was amazing and the information he gave us really opened our eyes. Visiting MIT was a dream come true. Late in the evening we drove back to New York. On the next day we went to the UN Headquarters. After completing all our commitments we went to Macy’s, a big mall in New York.

We boarded our flight back home with mixed feelings. Our hearts were filled with gratitude for having made this trip. It was the right blend of learning and fun.
