The 17th S. Kandhari Memorial Hockey Tournament is an annual event organized by Welham Boys' School to honor the memory of our revered former Principal, the late Mr. S. Kandhari. A genuine sports aficionado, he consistently instilled in his students the values of mentorship and leadership, urging them to guide and inspire their juniors. The tournament is a poignant tribute to his enduring legacy and unwavering devotion to sports. This year's tournament featured a lineup of highly credible teams, including The Doon School, Punjab Public School Nabha, St George’s School, Mussoorie, Oak Grove School Mussoorie, and Welham Boys' (Blue) and Welham Boys' (White).
 
The tournament comprised 15 matches played in a league cum knockout format, culminating on May 4, 2024.
 
The S. Kandhari Memorial Hockey Tournament finals were contested between The Doon School and The Oak Grove School, Mussoorie. In a closely contested match, The Doon School emerged as the winner with a 7-6 victory. Rahul Oram from The Doon School earned the title of the Most Promising Player, while Jasman Preet from The Punjab Public School was recognized as the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament.
 
The event was graced by the presence of Ms. Usha Kandhari, wife of the legendary late Mr S. Kandhari. Mr Amarjeet Pratap Singh, Deputy HR Executive at ONGC in Dehradun and a former International Hockey player presided over the event as the Chief Guest.
 
The S. Kandhari Hockey Tournament was a testament to the passion and commitment of these aspiring players, fostering camaraderie, sportsmanship, and healthy competition among participants and providing valuable experiences beyond the field of play.
