NewsSCHOLARS’ RECOGNITION DAY (Junior and Middle School) 17-08-2020

The Scholars’ Recognition Ceremony for Junior and Middle school was held online, on 17 August 2020.

Presiding over the ceremony, the Principal Mrs. Sangeeta Kain applauded the efforts put in by students to achieve excellence in scholastic and co-scholastic activities and urged them to further raise the bar.
The ceremony commenced with the presentation of the Les Lecteurs Voraces award – given to students who have proved their mettle as avid readers. Besides fiction, they are expected to read books of different genres.
Awards for the Mega Spellathon and Matheletics were also given away to deserving students.
The following Distinction Certificate Awards were also given away next:

1. The Bronze Scholar Award – awarded to 18 students.
This award is given to students who score 91% and above aggregate in Grades IV to VIII, 89% and above aggregate in Grades IX for the first time.
 
2. The Silver Scholar Award – awarded to 8 students.
This award is given to students who have consistently achieved the Distinction Certificate Award for the second time in a row.

3. The Gold Scholar Award – again awarded to 8 students who have consistently achieved the Distinction Certificate for the third time in a row.

4. The Scholars’ Tie – awarded to 4 students who have consistently achieved the Distinction Certificate Award for the fourth time in a row.
5. The Scholars’ Crest – awarded to 2 students who have consistently achieved the Distinction Certificate for the fifth time in a row.

The final award of the evening was the Scholars’ Gown – awarded to 7 students from Grades IX who have scored an aggregate of 91% and above in the whole academic year, but not less than 80% in each subject separately.

Welham Boys’ School started life as Welham Preparatory School way back in 1937, when Ms. Oliphant invested her humble capital and started the School in a rented building, which she called White House. Later, she rented another building Bethany that today is our dining hall.
