Welham Boys’ School hosted the Eight Edition of the WELMUN from the 4th to 6th August 2022, based on the theme “Festina Lente”, translating to ‘Proceed Expeditiously but Prudently’.
The Chief Guest for the Opening Ceremony was Mr Vijay Vardhan, IAS (Retd), former Chief Secretary of Haryana, author, and currently the Chief Information Commissioner of Haryana.
 
The MUN saw a large participation of 256 delegates from 23 schools from across India. This session of the MUN brought with it exciting new challenges as students from across the subcontinent came together to apply themselves to complex global issues in rounds of hectic parleying.
 
The WELMUN had seven committees, namely, the United Nations Security Council, Disarmament and International Security Committee, United Nations Human Rights Council, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, World Trade Organization, All India Political Parties Meet, and finally the International Press Corps.
 
Some very engaging and important issues discussed in the various committees were, ‘Examining the Russo-Ukrainian Conflict’, ‘The Humanitarian crises in Afghanistan’, discussion on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) with special emphasis on religious dress code in public institutions’, addressing the situation of Narco-Terrorism with special emphasis on The Golden Triangle’, to name a few.
 
This student-driven event was conducted by an Executive Committee comprising of 32 student members. Shubhankar Dhulia as the Secretary General of WELMUN 2022 and the President of the Model UN Society headed the Secretariat and guided the delegates into thought provoking discussions on an array of International Affairs through collaboration, negotiation, and innovation.
 
The Best Delegation Trophy was won by Modern School, Barakhamba Road, New Delhi.

Later, she rented another building Bethany that today is our dining hall.
