A group of 19 boys escorted by 5 teachers attended the 31st edition of the New Delhi World Book Fair on 28th February and 1st March, 2023 held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The Fair is organized by National Book Trust, India, an autonomous organization of the Government of India under the Ministry of Education in collaboration with India Trade Promotion Organization.
The theme of the NDWBF 2023 was ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav ' commemorating 75 years of progressive India. The students had the pleasure of attending many seminars, conferences, book releases, literary and cultural programmes, as well as various B2B events. Other attractions included G20 Pavilion highlighting the Year of India’s G20 Presidency, NEP Pavilion, Children’s Pavilion, Yuva Corner, International Events Corner, Child Authors’ Corner, Ed-Tech Zone, CEOSpeak, etc.
This year, France was the Guest of Honour country at the NDWBF. In addition to a delegation of French authors, led by Annie Ernaux, the French Nobel Laureate, many illustrators and publishers from France attended the book fair. France is making efforts to translate French literature into Indian languages and till now, more than 40 French books have been translated into Indian languages.
Over 500 national publishers and 21 international publishers participated in the book fair. The students went on a shopping spree and bought over 300 books on the topics ranging from languages, science, mathematics, history, philosophy, general knowledge, and much more. A few students also had the pleasure of meeting and interacting with the author of the trilogy ‘The Hidden Hindu’, Mr. Akshat Gupta.
Overall, the students and teachers came back contented with the knowledgeable and insightful experience of NDWBF2023.
