The conclave featured a series of events, including Prompt Engineering, Fastest Line Following Robot, Path Finder Robot, Robo Race, Robo Soccer, IT Quiz, and My Innovation, that Welhamites participated in.

Demonstrating exceptional skill and determination, the team secured first place in the IT Quiz, Robo Race, and Robo Soccer, underscoring their dominance in these fields.

Welham Boys’ School participated in the Literature Fest 'Le Mot Juste -2024' hosted by Wynberg-Allen School, Mussoorie, where Welhamites showcased their literary prowess.

Vibhav Panwar was adjudged the winner in Division 4 (grades 11 and 12) of The Rev. Biggs Inter-School Spelling Bee 2024. Koustabh Gupta secured the position of First Runners Up in Division 3 (Grades 9 & 10) in the same competition. In addition, Jared Alfie M. Sangma achieved the position of First Runners Up in the Intermediate category (grades 7 and 8) in The Cynthia Burrell English Poetry Recitation Competition.

CO-CURRICULAR ACHIEVEMENTS 2023-24

Oxford Global MUN 2023

Welham Boys’ School participated in the Oxford Global MUN 2023 in Oxford, UK. Welhamites engaged in MUN training and an orientation session by Worldview. The opening ceremony featured Natalie Samarasinghe, former CEO of the United Nations Association UK, and welcomed over 1000 delegates from various nations.

During the MUN sessions, intense diplomatic discussions took place, culminating in a grand closing ceremony at the Sheldonian Theater. Excited about future MUNs, the delegation continued their cultural exploration visiting the Shakespeare Globe, Tower of London, and Oxford Street adorned with Christmas lights. Exploring London's landmarks like Buckingham Palace and Victoria Memorial, the delegation also experienced the magic of the Harry Potter studio tour.

The cultural odyssey continued with visits to the British Museum, the London Eye, and a Thames River cruise. The UK trip offered a perfect blend of fun-filled learning, leaving each participant with cherished memories and valuable exposure.

Le Concours De La Francophonie

Welhamites showcased their brilliance at Le Concours De La Francophonie - Inter School French Competition held at Mayo College, Ajmer. Welham Boys’ School emerged as the Overall 1st Runner-up, a testament to our students' talent and dedication! Congratulations to Yatharth Rajput for securing the 2nd position in the Quiz on Les Pays Francophones.

It was truly an enriching experience for all, fostering learning and camaraderie.

At the prestigious Round Square International Conference 2023 held in Nairobi, Kenya, Welham Boys' School had a moment of tremendous pride as one of our talented students, Sankalp Gupta, achieved a remarkable feat. Sankalp's artistic skills secured him the Highly Commended Certificate in the 16-18 years age category for the esteemed Roy McComish Art Award.

The Roy McComish Art Award is an annual worldwide art competition in which students are invited to submit artwork in any medium to capture the theme of the Round Square International Conference. The Award is named after the founding Headmaster of Box Hill School, which was itself a founding member of Round Square.

Welham Boys’ School is elated to see Sankalp's artistic brilliance being celebrated on an international platform. His achievement serves as an inspiration to all our students, encouraging them to pursue their passions and reach for excellence.

34th Kamla Jeevan Hindi Debate

The Welham Boys’ School Captain, Trayambak Pathak, was adjudged the best speaker of the 34th Kamla Jeevan Hindi debate hosted by The Doon School from August 24 to August 26, 2023. Welham Boys’ also attained the position of runners-up in the debate.

Apart from the above, the following awards were also won by Welhamites:

  • In the initial round, Trayambak Pathak was adjudged the best speaker, while Vihan Shukla stood out as the most promising speaker.
  • Moving to the second round, Trayambak Pathak was adjudged the most promising speaker.
  • In the third round, Trayambak Pathak's exceptional speaking skills earned him the title of the best speaker once again.
  • Advancing to the semi-finals, Trayambak Pathak maintained his outstanding performance as the best speaker, and Pranjal Baluni secured the position of most promising speaker.
  • Finally, in the ultimate round, Trayambak Pathak's exceptional speaking abilities were acknowledged once more, culminating in him being named the best speaker of the Kamla Jeevan Debate 2023

Former Welhamite Shoaib Shawl Selected for Oscars awarding Academy's Gold Rising Programme

Shoaib Shawl, a former Welham Boys' student from the Batch of 2019, has been selected for the prestigious Oscar Academy Gold Rising programme of 2023 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Hollywood, USA.

Graduating from the New York Film Academy, Shoaib is already making waves as a production designer and director. During his time at Welham Boys', he honed his filmmaking skills as the Director of the School Film Club, Welham News, showcasing his passion for storytelling and bringing captivating stories to life. Shoaib aims to represent the art and culture of Jammu and Kashmir on an international platform. His remarkable journey is a testament to creativity, determination, and the nurturing environment at Welham Boys'.

QMUN

A group of 13 Welhamites participated and won the Best Delegation Trophy at the QMUN'Aut Viam Inveniam Aut Faciam,'hosted by Selaqui International School.

Krishna Poddar & Samarth Agarwal secured the Best Delegate Awards in DISEC & UNODC respectively, while Divij Gupta and Shreyas Shah secured the Best Delegate Awards in UNSC. Atharva Agarwal and Ahan Sparsh received Outstanding Awards in AIPPM and UNODC respectively. Chiraag Bhargava and Shubh Tandon earned Honorable Mentions in UNODC and DISEC respectively.

Ms. Naina Dhillon, Principal, Vidya Devi Jindal School, and Ms. Sangeeta Kain, Principal, Welham Boys'School, graced the event as Chief Guests for the opening and closing ceremonies respectively.

Aarshay Chaudhary claimed the esteemed first place in Wreath Making, while Avani Sharma and Virat Singh's remarkable artistry secured them the second position in Dream Catchers. Kaustubh Swarup's captivating design in 'My Logo' also earned the well-deserved second spot. Gaurika Kailkhura impressed with her photography skills, while Yash Gupta excelled in coiling, both securing second positions. Aarav Bhimsaria's sculpting talent garnered the noteworthy third position. Additionally, Yug Gupta's typographic prowess and Arham Rizwan's outstanding mark making both earned the second prize. SPARK

In a sensational triumph, the Welham band clinched the coveted first position at the Inter-School Band Competition, SPARK, held at Shri Ram Centennial School. With their foot tapping performance, the Welham Band left the judges and audience in awe, mesmerized by their musical prowess. This remarkable achievement is a testament to their unwavering dedication and passion.

LE MOT JUSTE

Welhamites showcased their exceptional talent at the Wynberg Allen Le Mot Juste Competition, bringing home the overall Recitation Trophy and the overall Hindi Debate Trophy!

Jared Sangma impressed the judges with his English recitation, earning the first place.

In the Hindi Debates category, Bimarsh Jha stood out as the runner-up speaker and received an individual prize and along with Pranjal Baluni brought home the trophy.

Additionally, Eshaan Tiwari was recognized as the most promising performer in Hindi recitation.

In the United Nations General Assembly, Divij Gupta earned a Special Mention, Jaap Sardana was awarded High Commendation, and Bimarsh Jha won the Best Delegate.

"Welhamites performed exceptionally at Smarika 2023, an event hosted by Welham Girls’ School.

Our students showcased their impressive speaking skills in Miss Linnell Memorial Inter School Hindi Debate, lifting the Winners trophy. In addition, Bimarsh Jha earned the Best Speaker award in the Final Round while Trayambak Pathak was awarded the Second Best Speaker award as an Opposition speaker. Bimarsh Jha also won the Best Speaker award in the Preliminary Round.

In the WGS Miss Saroj Srivastava Inter School English Debate, Divij Gupta earned the Best Speaker award in the Final Round as an Opposition speaker while Atharva Agarwal received the Second Best Speaker award. Divij Gupta was also awarded the Second Best Interlocutor in the Preliminary Round. The WBS team secured the Runners Up position.

At Earth Art 2023, we secured the first prize for Blending in Canvas Painting, the second prize for Miniature Interior Design, and the second prize for our photo montage. Additionally, we were honored to receive the Earth Art Winners Trophy!

In Izzhar-e-Hunar 2023, we achieved the first position in Videography and the second position in the Scout Race and Dance Choreography categories.
