The Astronomy Club at Welham Boys’ School recently welcomed the new Welhamites with an awe-inspiring stargazing session that brought the mysteries of the night sky to life. Held beneath a crystal-clear sky, the evening was a magical introduction to astronomy, as students peered through the school’s 8-inch fully automated Celestron Telescope.

 

Highlights of the night included a stunning view of Jupiter accompanied by its four Galilean moons, a glimpse of Earth’s crescent Moon, and the striking red glow of Mars. For many, especially the Junior School students, this was their first encounter with the grandeur of the cosmos—an unforgettable moment of learning and wonder.

 

The event sparked curiosity, ignited imaginations, and deepened the students’ appreciation for the universe. With such an enthusiastic response, the Astronomy Club is excited to continue its journey of celestial discovery through future stargazing sessions.
