The annual S. Kandhari Memorial Hockey Tournament, hosted by Welham Boys' School, served as a heartfelt tribute to our former Principal, the late Mr. S. Kandhari, who passionately championed sports and encouraged his students to mentor and lead younger peers. This year's tournament featured a lineup of highly credible teams, including The Doon School, RIMC, Punjab Public School Nabha, Wynberg Allen Mussoorie, Yadavindra Public School Mohali, Oak Grove School Mussoorie, and Welham Boys' (Blue) and Welham Boys' (White).
 
The tournament aimed to uphold Mr. Kandhari's legacy by highlighting the importance of student involvement in sports and fostering a competitive spirit among participants. It featured a total of 15 matches played on a league cum knockout basis, with the tournament coming to a close on May 4, 2023.
 
The finals of the S. Kandhari Hockey Tournament were played between The Oak Grove School and The Doon School. In a closely contested match, Oak Grove emerged as the winners with a 1-0 victory. The event was graced by the presence of Mrs. Usha Kandhari, the wife of the late legendary Mr. S. Kandhari. Mr. R.P. Devgan, Member of the Board of Governors at WBS, presided over the event as the Chief Guest. The S. Kandhari Hockey Tournament provided a unique platform for young hockey players to showcase their talent and skills.
 
The event was a grand success and fostered camaraderie, sportsmanship, and healthy competition among the participants, providing valuable experiences beyond the field of play.
 
Welham Boys' School extends its appreciation to all participating teams and eagerly awaits the next edition of this remarkable tournament, which continues to inspire and nurture young athletes in their sporting journeys.
